Insanity workout - back pain?
I decided to try the Insanity DVDS for 2 days with my friend who was visiting. Holy hell it KILLED my lower back. Is this normal? Not sure if it was the plank position and mountain climbers type stuff or just the reaching down/bending action or what. Just curious if anyone else experienced this? Loved the work out…sheesh it was hard. But not sure I will purchase due to back pain…took me a few days to recover.

The insanity workout is very hard on your back. High impact and lots of movements that if you do them slightly the wrong way it could be bad for your back. Do you have a bad back to begin with? If so I wouldn't recommend continuing. Otherwise if you were to do it again be extra mindful of your body mechanics etc. feel better

I had some back issues for a few years - nothing major but just random sciatic pain that came and went and finally healed completely in 2011. Now it's back ugh. Could be a pinched nerve but who knows. It is not debilitating but rather just bothersome. I prob won't be continuing it.

Have you not worked out in a while?
Sounds like it may just be soreness from overworking your lower back, which happens when the abs are either not strong enough, or fatigue, or if your technique/form was off on some things.

Re: Insanity workout - back pain?
I have herniated discs but I really wanted to try this workout. I really stretched before each work out in the beginning and so far, I have had no problems. I just started month 2. If a feel a twinge of pain, I stop whatever it is and modify it down so it's less jumping or less squatting or less reaching...whatever the case may be.
