Regrets????

So, we finally set a date for trying.. March. Well, a bit earlier than we want (june is perfect) but what are the chances of getting PG from the first time?

The more I think about this, the more I wonder: did anyone regret postponing? I feel that we are planning so much and if things don't work out - will take longer than we thought - I would be devasted!!!

any advice?

We are waiting for many 'good reasons', school, work and time - but... i can't help but wonderChat Icon

Re: Regrets????

I wanted to start last November but we just kept postponing because we wanted to be selfish a little bit more. Being able to just pick up and go when we wanted, weekend trips, time together and enjoying the house.

Then we said ok Sept 2006 which would be 2 years we're married. Nah postponed again because of DH getting a new job and we wanted to get settled in with his new schedule and job. So we said early 2007 but he's planning a big vacation for our 3 yr anniversary. So we put it off again.

Right now we're both really just enjoying things and whatever happens happens. We're not really trying but we're also not doing anything to prevent it. So no real "official" TTC date is in play but we really do want to start TTC next year.

Re: Regrets????

None. I wanted to wait until I was married regardless of my age. I am now 36 and I am sure it will take some time for us to conceive but I have no choice. This is the hand I was dealt. I couldnt and wouldnt have done it any sooner. Besides, DH and I are only married about seven months and know each other two and a half years. There was no other time for us.

Re: Regrets????

Chat Icon You post made me smile. DH and I were relocating to Charlotte this past June. After moving and finding employment, we were going to take a passive approach at TTC. Well, we got antsy in March, who gets preggo their first time anyway? Chat Icon I now have a baby coming in Dec.

We had been married almost 4 years, I think that time was super valuable growth wise and we as financial. good luck!

Re: Regrets????

No regrets. DH and I have been together 10 years. Married 16 months. It was time. Even still, things always came up and we always pushed it out. We weren't married. We didn't own a home. We were moving OOS. We were too young. We hadn't finished college. We hadn't traveled enough. We weren't settled in careers. We didn't have enough savings. I mean, I could go on and on. After the wedding, the move and the purchase of our home (and my return to college) we decided that it wasn't right yet. But life happens. And we were (are) faced with the possibility of a serious illness. A change in our forever. And you know what I regretted most when we were first finding out about my DH's illness? Not the money not saved, or the trips not taken, or the degrees not obtained. I regretted not having kids. Not having a mini us. Not having a family yet. So when it really mattered God showed me what life was about. And it wasn't more time or material things or later. It was now. Tomorrow isn't promised. We're living for today. Chat Icon

Re: Regrets????

yes.....We discussed getting married because we wanted to start a family about 4 years ago. We decided to wait and stay engaged for a while.

We are noe married a year and a half and have been TTC for 23 months and on the IVF.

Both me and my husband wish we would have tried early.

Re: Regrets????

I completely relate. DH and I had planned last October. Then we moved out of state. There are many reasons to push it back, I struggle with the same thing - regretting that we didn't start earlier. We haven't started TTC yet, I want to do something big for our 5yr anniversary coming up in a couple months - then next summer go to Greece. I'm not sure what we're going to do.

Re: Regrets????

Huge regrets for waiting so long - and then wasting a year with an incompetent fertility specialist. We're on IVF #2 and I guess we are the 1 in 10 couples of our friends that are baby making challenged. I wish we'd started earlier - I'm 37 now
