DOH letter

I am an OT. I worked as a staff member in a district for years, and then got excessed. So I'm looking for work through an agency. Do I need a DOH letter? I'm confused! I am wondering if there is anything else I might need, too? So far I have my malpractice insurance and NPI number.

Re: DOH letter

Usually the agency will tell you what you need. I believe the DOH letter is to do early intervention (birth-3) Depending where yiu work there are little training that different counties require. The agencies usually provide them. There also use to be a medicare training. Talk to the compliance person at the agency you are at and they will tell you what you will need. There always seems to be something, lol.

Re: DOH letter

If you are planning on doing EI, rather than CSE or CPSE services, you need a DOH letter. But, they don't give them out freely. You need documentation you worked with the ei population for a few years. My bro, a special ed teacher, who worked as a SEIT for CPSE and has early childhood special ed license couldn't get a DOH letter. Sometimes its better, just to be a CPSE or CSE provider. I know my district uses an outside agency (access 7 I believe) to provide our schools CSE services. I think a bunch do this now too. You would probably also need a bunch of continuing ed courses, best practice courses, and references.
