Have to share this pic of my well behaved pup...
Don't ask how we trained him to do this. He's a rescue and while we trained him to do a lot, he has always been this polite. I set the plate down and he looked away from it, so I snapped the pic. Then he laid down with his back to the plate. I could leave the room and he wouldn't touch it. Don't ask me how. He's a miracle dog

He is SOOOOOO cute!!!! Interesting that you mention that he's a rescue and does this because our dog is the same. For his birthday, I made him a yummy peanut butter based cake (peanut butter is his FAVORITE) and he literally just sat and waited until we told him it was okay to eat it.

Oh I wish! My two...both rescues... will just sit and watch when we eat something...and drool...and then get up and pace if they think they're not getting a piece...
I have chow hounds and they are by no means polite!

Too cute! My parents new pup nearly ripped my damn hand off trying to steal a garlic knot out of it last night. This is the second time- always with garlic knots. WTF pup?

My male cat wouldn't be that behaved.
He'd go for anything I leave out! He's like a dog- will eat anything.
