What would you do?
I am supposed to be walking a half marathon on Saturday for breast cancer. I already paid to sign up and have raised a couple of hundred dollars. I accidentally walked into a free weight that was on my floor today and I'm fairly certain I broke the tip of my middle toe. I've been icing it all day, but it hurts like hell and it's already bruising. I know that I can push myself and complete the walk, but would that be really stupid of me? I really don't want to have to back out. But at the same time, I don't want to do damage to myself. Would you do the walk anyway?

What would you do?
no
i would rest
you don't want to strain it more
let it heal
plus, if you do walk, you will likely be overcompensating on the other leg and foot, shifting weight off the bad toe - which could strain something else on your good leg.
feel better!!

Re: What would you do?
That sucks.
But it sounds like an appropriate reason to take the day off.

Re: What would you do?
I would strongly advise against walking a half marathon if you know your toe is broken. If it's just a bruise, it would probably be fine, but if there's any chance it's broken, that's just too long of a distance. I'm sure you could push yourself to do it - but to answer your question, yeah, it would be pretty stupid.
Would it possible for you to just do a small part - like a mile or so, just to have done something? That's what I would try to do. I wouldn't want to completely bail because it's for a cause and people donated, but doing the whole thing would not be smart.

Re: What would you do?
Actually when I had a stress fracture in my foot (not toe though) the Dr told me that walking actually helps in the healing process. Running, no, but walking gave a little bit of impact to help the bone to grow and fuse.
