OOT moms-to-be....shower question
I'm pretty darn sure that people are up to something for my last minute visit to NY....
how do I get the stuff home???

If I was you, I would return everything for gift certificates and rebuy it at home.
Shipping it would cost a fortune!

I had my shower in NY and most people gave us gift cards. For those people who couldn't come, they mailed stuff to use through BRU.com.
I brought extra suitcases with me (just put them inside each other) bc Southwest lets you check in 3 bags pp. So all the other stuff we just packed in the luggage. We ended up checking in 6 suitcases full of clothes, bottles, and smaller items from the registry.
When I got home to Chicago, I just went to BRU to buy all the big stuff like stroller, carseat, pack and play, bassinet...... My mom returned one item to BRU for me, mailed me the gift card and then I purchased it here.

maybe they are buying it and having it shipped to you after the shower and including the picture in a card? no fun to open at the party but fun when it comes to the house. i remember for my bridal shower it was like christmas everyday becasue there would be a new box delivered for 3 months.

I brought and extra suitcase but I knew about my shower. For the baby shower we got a lot of gift certificates with the pictures of what they were for printed out. So we had our suitcase, and extra suitcase and a box. It was no problem at all but there were two of us flying so that didn't go over the luggage limit.
Any big stuff you get return and rebuy. That's what I did for my wedding shower.
ETA: I would definitley go and register. You don't have to do everything but at least get started and since you are having a girl I can assure you that you will get lots of clothes.

My friends live out of state and her sister just threw a small baby shower for her. In the invitation she suggested gift cards because it will be easier to travel with. She ended up getting some stuff (mostly clothes) so her sister will box it up and ship it to her.
Funny...she lives in Georgia now too....
