YOu can probably get a Marc by March Jacobs or some Rebecca Minkoff styles for that budget. Love her MABs.
I have the TB Amanda Classic Hobo and really like it.

If you had $500 to spend on a bag which one would you buy right now?
When I spend that much on a bag, I try to get one that's not made in China. Most of the designer brands are made in China now but I feel like I can get a bag made there in K-Mart or Target so the only thing making the designer bag special is the brand. I know - strange thinking but that's just me.
I just bought a Longchamp bag that I love. Was also considering Furla. Both brands are made in several different countries so I always checked the "made in" label.

For $500 I'd go w/ a MK leather bag - his leather is beautiful and his bags are well made.
I'm not at a fan of TB - and if I'm spending $$$$ on canvas or nylon, it's going to be for a swanky designer, not TB ......
but I'm admitedly not a TB fan -
