Does anyone elses dc play this? My son is completely addicted and we're having trouble limiting his screen time. I am tempted to take it away completely, but he loves it, so I hate to do that.

How do you limit computer/video game time?

How do you limit it? You tell him he can play for an hour or whatever, then tell him it's time to turn it off. He is doesn't, he loses it the next day. That's how it works in my house.

My son loves this game too ... But we have rules... He is not allowed to play in AM at all.. and only for an hour and half in the evening when he doesn't have football practice... Weekends are limited as well.

They are not allowed to turn a TV, computer or game on in the mornings. Ever. (this rule was implemented when my toddler son threw a fit because it was time to go to daycare & the show wasn't over).

After school, he needs to finish all of his homework. If I see he's been on minecraft or skypnig friends, he's banned from going downstairs where the computer is for the rest of the week (his sister will let me know but I can check the computer too).

I used to disable the internet but DH gets home before me. He's not computer savvy & I cannot field calls telling me "Nothing is working". Also it's not fair to his sister who does all of her homework, watches shows on netflix or wants to use her iPad.

I'm pretty sure the last edict of "If I see you were on minecraft, I will uninstall it from our computers & cancel your account" was enough.

Weekends I'm ok with it as long as it doesn't interfere with being social & going out, ie. he's not allowed to stay home from things we're doing or give me any hassle about going anywhere because he wants to play.

My DDs (7 and 10 yo) play it. I have had a rule no screen time Mon-Thur during the school year since they started school. So that covers that..

Weekends, we are out and about, some chores/responsibilities need to be done, homework, then they are free to decide if they want to play or have screen time - at that point I have no limits.

I rarely have to punish or take away anything. However, I have warned to take away tech games if they don't behave...

It's worked for us for several years.

We do have rules. He is not allowed to play in the AM at all, thats not a question. After school, he is supposed to finish homework before he is allowed on. But neither dh or I are home yet, he is home with his older sister. He often does his homework sloppily or half ass because he eager to go on. He has ADHD, so when it is time to get off its a battle. I get "one more minute" or "let me just finish this round" and it goes on from there. He gets it taken away if he doesn't listen, but he carries on and on and on about it.

Does anyone have a time limit software they use?

I have the no electronics M-Th. rule too. DS also needs to show an effort in baseball to play F-S.
He only has minecraft on the iPad and I have deleted the app. It took a good month or so before he earned it back. He keeps asking for the computer edition but I refuse to get it.

When DS gets nuts on it, I get stricter with the rules.

My son is OBSESSED. We've taken Minecraft/technology vacations recently because he was spending waaaay too much time on it. Now we just let him play a little in the evening and a few hours on the weekends.

There are way worse games out there, it's actually nice to see them playing something sort of creative and constructive, but it definitely has addictive properties!

DS just got an ipod touch for his 8th birthday along with some iTunes gift cards and minecraft was his 1st purchase!

We have a no electronics rule during the week... on the weekends time is limited since he is very involved in sports and we aren't home much (I generally don't let the electronics leave the house)....Im pretty free with the time spent when we are home though; since I know its sooo limited the rest of the week....

Recently, I have on a few occasions let him earn 30 min of "screen time" on a weekday for a good grade/ cooperating during home work time.... If he has earned this- its set to a strict 30 min, set with a timer.
