For those who shop at Fairway Market
They are opening a Fairway Market in Nanuet, NY tomorrow and I've literally never stepped foot in one before. I know a lot of people love it though. I'm curious for those of you who shop at Fairway - what do you typically buy there? Do you go there just for specific specialty items or do you go there for your entire food shopping list? Also, do you find that it's cheaper or more expensive than your typical grocery store?

I never go there for a regular shopping trip. I typically go for lunch and get a chopped salad, some cheese samples, some olive oil samples, and then head back to work lol. They have things there that you wouldn't find in you run of the mill supermarket. Definitely check it out! I'm always amazed at the products they have.

I agree. I LOVE to just go in there and go down the aisles to see what they have. They have a lot of things that you wouldn't necessarily find in your regular supermarket. They can be a little bit pricey so I don't go there for my reg shopping either. Sometimes I will go in there for a certain type of bread, cheese and pasta.
I LOVE their bagels!

Re: For those who shop at Fairway Market
I shop their sale flyer and also Waldbaums' sale flyer.
A typical shopping trip to Fairway includes produce, deli for cold cuts, olive and pickle bar, cheese bar, bakery, fish, meat, dairy. I am basically walking the perimeter of the store and rarely venture into the aisles unless there is something on sale that I need.
There are price differences, some stuff is more expensive, some is actually cheaper than Waldbaums. Never buy paper goods or cleaning products at Fairway. Target is better.
For example, Bear Naked Granola - $3.79 a bag at Fairway, just about $5.00 at Waldbaums. Quart sized Stoneyfield Farms yogurt, $3.69 at Fairway, $4.69 at Waldbaums. 18 count Eggland's Best eggs - $3.89 at Fairway, $4.99 at Waldbaums. I buy them when the go on sale at $2.50. I like Fairway spices - a huge selection and a lot cheaper than McCormick.
Waldbaums carries the brand of coffee I drink, so I buy it there. I buy most of my canned goods at Waldbaums, some frozen goods and very rarely produce because it is not good.

Re: For those who shop at Fairway Market
I go there for my entire food list.
Produce meat cheese cold cuts fish baked goods (only tried a couple once or twice. Both times great!) bread eggs general grocery items
I do not go for household items or beauty products etc.
comparing it to stop and shop, waldbaums, and king kullen, I find the selection and quality to be far superior. I also find the prices to be better. I do 90% of my shopping at Fairway and Trader Joes. And then I'll go to target or walmart for general household things.

Re: For those who shop at Fairway Market
I find Fairway has a lot of "regular" supermarket items for a lot more $$ but a lot of the things I go there to specifically get (like organic things) are actually cheaper.
I usually go for the CHEESE! they also have a great coffee selection and I like to look around at all the new stuff I don't see elsewhere. Like prepackaged healthy snacks.

Re: For those who shop at Fairway Market
i only shop at fairway. i buy things that are on sale for the most part. i do not find the typical brand items to be more expensive than waldbaums. You will not find better quality meats in any other supermarket.
you have to be patient, especially the first couple of times you enter fairway. you want salt?pepper? GOOD LUCK! they have about 80 diff types of salt all scattered in different parts of the store. some people find that annoying, i love it
the employees are extremely helpful. they even have someone walking around to answer ay questions you have about food, recipes, where things are etc.
you will not find a cleaner supermarket either.

Re: For those who shop at Fairway Market
also, the cheese section is AMAZING. ( not the deli or dairy section.. those are fine) i personally do not buy cheese from there because its extremely expensive. If i know ahead of time i'll need a specific type of cheese, i go to trader joes.
