Half Ironman Training

Holy crap. I'm in week 3 of triathlon/half ironman training for a race in July and I'm so sore and tired. This is going to be a long year! Has anyone else done half or full ironman races?

Re: Half Ironman Training

Haven't done anywhere close to that big a race.... but just wanted to say that I am impressed! Even the training I do for my little sprint tris is exhausting! Did you see this article?

Keep at it! You can do it, and you will be amazing!

Re: Half Ironman Training

Musselman in Geneva, NY in July 2014. Its a long way off but I'm learning how to swim and bike efficiently. I wanted to do Mont Tremblant 70.3 but it got sold out too quickly!

I'm also planning to do a few olympic/sprint races beforehand.

I will say, this is an expensive habit to pick up!

Thank you! I did see that article, I'm not sure which comes first though, the pain tolerance or the training which leads to potential pain tolerance. I really think the intense training prepares our bodies for the worst and since we get so used to being in pain on long runs, long rides, we get used to it. Either way, I guess I'm not a baby that I used to be. Chat Icon

That looks like an awesome race! I love the idea of a mico-musselman also! Lol! Riding bigwheels!!
If you haven't done any before, Event Power LI does some awesome races- I will be doing a few this year with them. :)
