Thearapeutic Horsebackriding
Do any body known of a great therapeutic horseback riding program? If so how does one of these program cost and do insurance covers it for a diagnosed children?
My daughter's PT and OT said that this may be helpful for her due to her sensory processing issues.

I would recommend you reach out to Pal O Mine Equestrian about Equine Therapy, Hippotherapy or speak with Tina Rocco, if you are interested in the speech and pathology in motion program. They also offer wonderful programs for special needs children. Many are covered by insurance, but some you have to apply for funding. You can tell them that I recommended you, I really think they have a a very special program and think so many children can benefit from it. Hope this helps!

Thearapeutic Horsebackriding
My son did it through Shine and enjoyed it. I didn't notice any improvements in attention, or anything like that. It was a fun activity for him. We went to the Huntington location, and I believe you are in Hempstead, so that is pretty far from you. I think I read that they have another location, Bethpage maybe?

We did Therapeutic Horseback Riding out in Middle Island. The stable was gorgeous. The instructor, I don't think really was a great fit. They focused a lot on learning to 'ride' a horse properly. There was a lot to remember, and it involved a ton of motor planning so I think my daughter was a bit overwhelmed. Her twin enjoyed it more lol. They had to do a lot of "up and down" squatting type things to help build the core.
I think Hippotherapy would have worked out better as that is done by an actual SLP or OT.
We paid $50 per half hour, for therapeutic riding. What was nice was we paid as we went. There was no commitment.

Was it Saddle Rock Ranch? We live right behind it. Went there a few times.

My son has been going to Horse Abilty for 2 years now and loves it. He's doing real well. It's located in the Old Westbury campus. The PT's are fabulous!
