Who has a juicer?
Anyone? Beuller?
After watching "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" two weeks ago, I can't get the possibilities of juicing out of my head. So I bought a Breville JE98XL juicer yesterday, mid-range model:
Besides the fact that I just don't eat enough veggies and this will be quick and easy for me to do so, I'm thinking about using it as a meal replacement.
I know I'm supposed to eat within 30 minutes of waking but I don't until I'm up for nearly 2 1/2 hours. So I thought I'd try replacing my morning coffee/breakfast with a 20 or 32 oz juice.
There's lots of recipes and info out there but I was wondering if anyone has any BTDT comments or recipes, anything to get me started.
Thanks

Who has a juicer?
That's the one I have and I looove it! so easy to use and sturdy. Ive had it for 3 years. I have to clean it right after juicing or I get lazy to do it. As for recipes, I borrowed books from the library. I love apple, kale, carrot, ginger with or without cucumber.

We have an omega and our stand by recipe is carrot, apple (green), celery, kale/spinach/chard (one of the greens), cucumber and cilantro.

Re: Who has a juicer?
Thanks ladies! It's good to hear that this one will last, since it was a little pricy. I already have a Brevilla toaster oven and hand blender so I'm liking the brand.
The juicer is arriving today so I have this for tonight's "dessert":
Strawberries Blueberries Fuji apple Celery stalk Flax Seed oil Cucumber
Tomorrow morning, I plan on replacing my morning coffee and breakfast with the typical "Mean Green" juice from the Fat Sick and Nearly Dead documentary:
1 cucumber 4 celery stalks 2 apples 6-8 kale leaves ½ lemon (1.5 tablespoons) 1 tablespoon ginger
I'm excited!!

Re: Who has a juicer?
I actually didn't have lemons and ginger root in the house so I used the ginger I had (ground). It wasn't bad!

Ground ginger & ginger root...very different. I did the recommended amount of ginger & as much as I love making a ginger tea with the root - this was overpowering. To where I barely put any in anymore!
Love juicing. I need to get back into it. I felt fabulous when I did it daily.

I would love a juicer but I feel like it's a pain in the butt to clean. I use the bullet for smoothies and buy a juice here and there. I generally get celery, carrot, cucumber, apple(red or green), parsley and Kale.

I always thought that too, but the one that I have has a great brush & it makes cleanup very easy! Plus, the pulp goes right into my compost bin. I have a Breville also, so I'm sure they all come with this brush.

Re: Who has a juicer?
I have been replacing either breakfast or dinner with juice, or supplementing with it and I feel great.
I finally got a lemon last night, did 1/3 lemon with skin on, and it made it SO good. And I'm not even a lemon kind of person. I had 2 guys try it at work this morning and they liked it too.
I've lost 4 pounds since Saturday. I know most of it has to be water weight but I'm so glad I did this!

Everything that gets dirty with mine can be put in the dishwasher but I handwash anyway. If you do it right after, it's a quick rinse and swipe with the sponge because nothing sticks. The mesh basket is the only challenge and like lorich said, the brush makes it easy (plus I'm afraid of getting cut).
I have a hand mixer too, but I prefer the juicer for now since I'm not big on "thick" drinks.

Re: Who has a juicer?
Have not seen the movie yet,,, was considering juicing for the benefit of energy. Aside from water weight can you really lose weight on this?

Nut punch is delicious. I don't put them in juice but I keep one in my gym bag. Especially for nights I teach 2-3 classes in a row.

That's a hard question to answer because there's so much that goes into fat loss. I'm not only juicing for that reason, I am a terrible vegetable eater. Or should I say, used to be. My morning juice is about 100 calories less than what a normal breakfast would be, but it is SO much healthier. I'd never normally get this many nutrients in one day without vitamins. And I hate pills.
I'm counting calories, I have high cal days and low ones, keep carbs as low as possible, only eat natural foods - not processed, keep sodium down, work out 2 to 3 times a week, switch up routines so I don't plateau, drink a ton of water... It all adds up to losing fat, gaining muscle, and being healthy.

I borrowed a friends juicer, because I wasn't sure if I would really like it, and I just made the Mean Green juice. It's SO good. I am going to make a few more juices - excited to try carrots and beets - before making the commitment but so far I'm very happy

Glad to hear it!
I've been off my diet and exercise regiment for over a week and wouldn't you know it, I got sick. I'm just getting back to juicing now and got some recipe books for Christmas, I'm still really liking the juicer.
