OLAS
Has anyone actually gotten a position through OLAS? I feel like most of the postings say "no paper resumes, emails, faxes or phone calls", but when I was looking for a position years ago I NEVER received a call for an interview through OLAS- only when I dropped off or mailed a resume to the principal. I have been teaching in the city for a few years now and would like to eventually make a switch to a closer school, so I'm just curious as to how its worked for other people.

Over the summer, and late spring, I had a lot of interviews off OLAS. I was an excessed teacher with 3 years teaching experience. Until then I didn't believe OLAS worked either. Now I feel otherwise. Luckily I was recalled for at least this year. It's just a crappy time right now.

Yes, I have gotten interviews and positions off of OLAS. You just have to be patient. Easier said than done. At least you have a position in the city.

I agree...previously I have not received any calls through OLAS, until I became an excessed teacher. I have 5+ yrs experience. I was offered 2 jobs, but unfortunately, they were for leave replacements, and were not salary, and I could not take them.

OLAS
I got my teaching position via OLAS. My district uses it regularly. I have sat on 2 interview committees for positions in our department, and we always use OLAS to screen/pull resumes of potential candidates.

I was hired for my tenure position through OLAS, then was RIF'd and called back through OLAS for leave replacement positions. Unfortunately, I couldn't accept the leaves due to salary and instability, so I now work in the DOE. Hopefully they'll have my position back before my 7 years are up :(

I always thought of OLAS as the black hole. I tried using it for years, before and when I had experience. I never received anything back.

Nope. I got called for maybe one. The job I got, I found the directors name and mailed him a resume. When I asked why I wasn't called off OLAS I never got a real answer.
