When it comes to storm damage to your home or business, the recovery process can take its toll on you, both financially and physically. From dealing with insurance companies to figuring out exactly how to recuperate your losses, it is often a high stress situation. Healthy Basement Systems is now a Certified New York Rising Storm Recovery Contractor, a network of highly trained and qualified experts who assist with rebuilding efforts in storm-affected communities.

In order to quality for this network, companies must have at least three years of residential construction experience as well as meet rigorous insurance requirements. Healthy Basement Systems owner Bill Simone said partnering with New York Rising was a no brainer. “We’ve seen first hand the damage that storms can do here in New York and we’re committed to helping our neighbors get back on their feet when severe weather strikes,” he said.

Homeowners in need can submit an application process on New York Rising’s website, located at stormrecovery.ny.gov. An inspector, such as Healthy Basement Systems, will come out to the home and assess the damage and value of the repairs needed. Then, if a homeowner is deemed eligible, they will receive an award letter and ultimately, a reimbursement for completed repairs. Interested candidates should be sure to review all eligibility requirements prior to applying.

To date, New York Rising has sent close to 4,300 award letters to residents in need of assistance in 50 communities. The Office of Storm Recovery is still helping those affected by Hurricane Sandy, which was the deadliest storm on record for the state in over 40 years.

New York Rising’s recovery hotline is open weekdays from 8:30am-4:30pm and can be reached at 1-855-NYS-SANDY.
