11 year olds... Nail polish?

I am putting together a birthday gift for an 11 year old girl. I ordered a cute personalized cosmetic bag (square ish), and want to fill it with some cute nail polishes. ( I hope she likes this idea!). She is very girly, likes sparkly stuff, etc.

What is a good brand of nail polish for an 11 year old? (Popular brands? Brands that mom will be ok with? Not too pricey since I want to be able to buy a bunch?).
And what colors are in for that age? Target has an Elf cube with 14 polishes for $10 ?

I feel so old!

TIA!!!

I would go someplace like Claire"s - they usually have nail polish sets for girls that have a bunch of good colors for a decent price

The crackled nail polish and the ones with stencils or stickers are big here. Also bright colors

My DD isn't 11, but I have pained her nails on occasion. I will only use Piggy Paint, since it's non toxic. I toss the other brands to be honest.

My daughter is 13. I'd say the Elf cube is a good idea. At 11, she's probably past the sparkly, crackle type stuff and non toxic shouldn't be an issue. I'd maybe get a few nail pens to go with the colors.

Just to be clear, the reason I use that type is not an issue of ingestion. It's an issue of the chemicals in all nail polish (formaldehyde, etc.), and the potential effects. I use it myself when I paint my toes Chat Icon

Essie is good, and they have a bunch of glittery & holiday colors out. I haven't seen the elf cube, but it might be a good idea. Also, Essie has an Out The Door, which is a quick drying topcoat, which I recommend for anybody doing their nails at home. You can get a cute small emery board and throw it in there too!

My niece is 11 and wears regular nail polish - Essie, OPI.... if you want to get less pricey i think you can get a few colors at Target or something.

try Five Below, they have a huge amounts of polish, Funky Finger, etc. They also have the nail art (thinner brush), that are fun. They do not have formaldehyde in them either. They have mini's as well, so you can get a whole bunch of different colors. There are a lot of cute ones there.
