Update! Ideas needed - my poor DH / pot luck related

My poor husband has been so stressed out at work lately. He is doing 3 jobs, has no secretary, and today his department changed their holiday pot-luck but he missed the announcement. Now he feels like a jerk not participating. I thought maybe we (I) could make something for the whole department for him to bring in on Weds. He feels so bad. Any ideas?

I was thinking maybe a bowl of muddy buddys?

Or maybe pumpkin muffins with cream cheese frosting

Or should it be something more substantial? Any thoughts? TIA!

ETA: Maybe a sausage bread? Stromboli?

is there any way he can grab a bottle of wine or some drinks or even a store made dessert for the pot luck today??

if not, i would do cupcakes or muffin for Wednesday
im sure any gesture would be appreciated but i think a dessert is always good

eta - the sausage bread is a great idea, but since it would be the only thing you would need to make sure there is enough for everyone to have some

Thanks!! I hope he figured out something for today. The pot luck was supposed to be tomorrow and he wasn't going to make it because he has meetings off-site, but they changed it to today, and he didn't even realize.

I think I will make two big sausage / pepperoni breads for him to bring Weds. He works in a small department, so that should be enough.

Also, I like that bread room temperature, so I can bake it up in the morning and he can bring it with and serve it room temp.

Still open to other ideas!!

Things happen, I would hope people would understand. I would go with something they can munch on like the muffins or sausage bread. Maybe some fresh fruit. We used to have so much food at pot lucks we would have only half the dept bring in food each time so we could have them twice as often! I think bringing something the next day would be appreciated.

Update!

We made pepperoni bread last night and it was a success - DH texted me that the whole platter was gone by 10 am. Ha!

Here is the recipe, which I got from a friend (the pepperoni can be swapped for sausage, and, strangely, my friend also puts raisins in hers. Weird, right?):

1 pizza dough rolled out thin and rectangular, but not too thin.

Spread a beaten eggwash around the edges.

Sprinkle the dough with salt, pepper, dried oregano and basil. Layer with shredded cheese (I used mozzarella), layer with pepperoni (or sausage, meat of your choice). Roll up. Carefully. End seam side down. I put this on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Make slits along the top and use the rest of the eggwash on top.

Bake at 375 for approx. 25 minutes, until golden brown.

I also sprinkled the top with grated parm.

Enjoy!! It was good, apparently!
