Jeez... so much for privacy through FM. I was very private throughout my struggle. I came to this board for comfort and advice and privately messaged girls all the time. Infertility is a very sensative subject for some (including myself). My ILs don't even know what we went through...

while there is nothing to be ashamed of, "coming out" is a very personal decision. I agree that we should all just be there for and respect each other and help in whatever way we can. I know i wouldnt/couldnt get through this journey without this board!!
BTW - what's PM?? is that different from FM???

Why such secretcy with Infertiliy??
I am very open on here with my IF struggles but I really don't really know anyone "IRL" on this board. There are many girls here who are know a lot of people on this board personally.
IF is a very personal thing. Some people may not want others to know because they don't want 100 questions asked and advice given all the time. I know for me there are days when I'm OK and other days where I'm in no mood for questions or advice. To each his own. I don't mind sharing my struggles/success/advice/questions etc. on here but this is my safe haven for IF. It should be everyone's safe haven. No one here should be questioning anyones true identity. We are all here to give advice, hugs, etc.
LURKER..feel free to FM me..unfortunately I'm an expert with Male Factor IF, IVF and losses :(.

I'm a very private person, I don't like people knowing my business and I'm very selective with who I share with. I don't like how people are ashamed or embarrassed by going through infertility and some often lie about it. Twins run in my family when you know they did Ivf. I don't like the stigma that comes along with it for no reason.
Years ago red book did a story campaign called "the truth about trying". Lots of people, including celebrities, we're on there interviewed about their struggles. I wish more people were open about it but I understand both sides.
I hadn't read that, I am going to search for it now!!! Thanks!
Look on YouTube. I think a lot of them were video interviews.

In the beginning I was more open about IF but after a while I couldn't deal with all the questions so I told my friends who knew to stop asking me and it solidified why I didn't share with the general public. Its not about being ashamed, its more about not having everyone and their mother in my personal business.

It's totally normal for people not to want to show who they are and have other names, especially with topics like adoption, IF, surrogacy ect. I am an open book and air my business on here but not everyone is like me, nor should they be. Many LIF girls know each other off here on FB or in play groups so I can understand why they may want to stay behind the scenes. Don't take it personal, OP. I get many, many FM's from girls looking for IF info and who don't normally post. I try and help out anyone I can bc I have gotten so much support from the girls here.
We are not like the bump or other boards that ridicule and make fun of posters so I would refrain from calling anyone out.

Honestly, this is true for TTC generally as well. When we first started TTC I had a secret name (my name now is still somewhat secret although most people know who I am at this point) because I wanted my privacy and didnt need the world knowing my business and bugging me about it.

To the OP, everyone handles things their own way. I don't think it's fair to judge. I think it's great this person wanted to reach out to you, whether it be through PM, email, etc.
Totally off topic but how are you and your new baby? You never posted pics, right? I feel like I haven't seen you on LIF in ages. Hope all is well!
Thanks!!! Everything's great here, just not as much time to post these days. Jonah is such a dream.... I was thinking of posting some pics soon actually, especially since today is my anniversary of my bfp!
