My friend said she heard on the radio that NYC schools would be closed, but I've been watching the news since she texted me and I see nothing. I'm hopeful though!!

Fingers crossed!!! It's a NIGHTMARE to get home right now. With the speed I'm going, I'll be lucky to make it home by 9!

Just called in. The rest of my car pool did last night. I have a jetta and didn't want to risk it. It took us just over four hours yesterday to get home This sucks!!!!

My sons daycare is closed and I am not putting him in the car to take him to my moms. I think this might be the first time I have ever not got in on a snow day. What sucks is the people who go in sit in auditorium with with 1000 kids bc no teachers are there but ALL the students are and it is just movie day....

I don't understand why they don't open the buildings for brkfst and lunch with a skeleton crew and leave the teachers home safe where they belong. When everyone is saying "please don't leave your house if it's not an emergency", how do they expect you teachers to go in? I am angry for you guys!
Someone explain this to me. So sorry you had to burn a sick day for this. Ugh

I stayed home. Daycare was closed and so was DD's school. It took my 5 hours to get home last night. I work for a small school and 17 teachers are out. That is more than 1/2 the staff. I usually always try to go in but after the 5 hours last night I just couldn't.

It took me 3.5 hours to get home (which meant I got to see my baby for a whopping 20 minutes before she went to sleep). That was officially the scariest commute ever - and I've driven in some terrible weather. Not worth the risk.
I work in a small school, so I know each staff member is missed when they're out. But attendance is going to be very low. They'll live without me for the day.

I'm home..another teacher has my class which makes me think kids actually came in but after 3.5 hours and it was scary last night and my dd having a cold and no child care, where were we going?

It took me 5+ hours to get home last night. I called in - I could not have made it in today. My street wasn't plowed in time to leave and it was not worth the risk after yesterday's fiasco!
