Hofstra Summer Camps

Does anyone have any experience with Hofstra's summer camps for grade schoolers?

I am considering the science program for DC.

Last year we did the Science Museum of Long Island which was wonderful, but a little far. So I welcome any other camp suggestions.Chat Icon

DS went to the LEGO Robotic's camp at Hofstra campus last summer. He'll most likely be going again. He enjoyed it, and I liked the convenience, curriculum, staff, etc.

Very we'll run, organized and friendly staff. Lunch choices are great, they don't swim daily, they also don't do the chosen activity for the full day (some are 1/2 day and 1/2 day of arts and crafts). They don't give you the bus pick up time until a day or two before. If you sign up for a sports session and a non sports session you have to pay two registration fees because they consider it different camps. Also you tip after each session so factor that into you expenses. I believe they have open houses at the end of January / beginning of February, and if you are a union member you get a % discount.

ETA this will be our fourth year sending our child

hofstra has daily swim unless you are signed up for the gifted camp, or the session 4 camps. at least anything in the learning institute side has a swim session daily. can't swear to the sports camps, we've never done them.
