Need advise: Workout related ......
I am basically getting back in the gym after about a year of just being too busy ...
I'm not looking to loose any weight, just tone my belly and strength train...
I need direction ,.... I went for a one on one training session at LA Fitness a couple of months ago and she suggested the Rowing machine to start , and then other simple workouts ..... HELPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

I think the best thing is to go to basic classes. It will keep you motivated (you are less likely to quit after 10 minutes if you are in class for 45 minutes!) and there are classes to target the full body. I would definitely recommend trying a few different ones at the gym.
I work out 5-6 times a week and just getting on a rowing machines sounds like a bore to me

I find the rowing machines a bore too!!
Squats are the simplest toning exercise. You will get you legs, butt and even you lower back. When I was starting I would do 3 sets of twelve of each of the following:
1. Legs together, hands over head and squat, 2. Legs shoulder width apart, arms extended in front with palms facing each other and squat 3. Legs a bit farther than shoulder width, hands on hips, make sure back is straight and squat. I would then widen my stance a bit farther and slowly glide from side to side.
For ab work I started just doing alot on the floor mat, but I graduated to the bosu ball. I'm sure your gym has them. They really help target your core. I cross my arms out in front of my chest, not against and do 3 sets of 12, stretch and then do 3 sets of 12 with my arms extended in front of me. I do the lower abs sitting on the end of a work out bench and bringing knees up.
I've been working out with a trainer for a few months and she is amazing. I don't do the squats any more but they really helped just jump start things and make your legs and butt look awesome too! I suggest trying a different trainer.

Ok awesome ! I'm definitely going to try your suggestions ....!!!!
I actually did a KErboomka class last night at Bounce in Syosset ( which was perfect because the boys went with me and played while I did the class.... And I do have to say , it was awesome. Really targeted the core. But I still need to jumpstart with a trainer at the gym too !!!!
Thanks guys

The most challenging classes I took at LA Fitness are the Bootcamp and Kickboxing (Lake Grove location).
When I strength train, I look to hit all major muscles - bicep, tricep, shoulders, back, chest, abs, thighs, calves, butt, hamstrings. I worked my way up to putting on as much weight as it takes so that by the end of each set, I'm struggling to finish. Anything less isn't really challenging.
