Ferrets

I need help, DH wants a ferret and I have zero knowledge on ferrets. If anyone can tell me of a place in Suffolk county that sells them and they are not mistreated I will take any info given. Also if anyine has info on how they are if left alone or with kids etc.
TIA

Re: Ferrets

we had 2 ferrets we just lost our 2nd 2 weeks ago.

they are very cute pets... and fun to play with.. they can be very dirty you have to clean their cage 1-2x/week otherwise it will smell your entire house.
i would go to any petco or petsmart. they should be fine i have no idea where else to get them other than if you got to a breeder and pay $$$$

i wouldnt leave them alone with a baby or something. only becuase with ours sometimes they play bite. my ferret used to nip at everyones feet when she "out" playing. other than that she was always in her cage when kids where around not for life threatening reasons just that a child would be more scared is a ferret nipped at them and by child i mean child. like 5 and under.. my little cousins would always plaay with the ferret alone.

they should be fixed by the time you get it, some can be de-scented as well

if you need a cage we have one... let me know... any more questions.. let me know.. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ferrets

I used to have 2 ferrets. In my opinion 2 is better than one because they love to cuddle and play together. They really do smell, but as long as you keep their cage clean and bathe them it's def dealable. They also have different powders and sprays for inbetween bath time. I never had a problem with the smell and felt that kept it under control. They are great pets, but do demand alot of attention & time. They love people and love to play non-stop.

Let me know if you have any questions.
