How many pounds are your weights
If you work out at home? I only use 3 and 5 but think I should increase. Issue is I have shoulder problems so I'm scared of injuries. Also, I'm petite so not sure I can do 8 lbs. .

Re: How many pounds are your weights
I'm at a gym if it matters. I'm trying to get back into a routine & currently use between 12.5 & 20lb each dumbbells. Depends on exercise.

Depending on the exercise I can go up to 25+. I am little but I have been weight training for years so I have really built up my strength.

Re: How many pounds are your weights
The lightest weight I use is 10lbs, and that's for small shoulder muscle isolations. I can't imagine you are getting many strength benefits from 3's & 5's - it would take an awful lot of reps to fatigue a muscle to the point where strength gains would occur with that weight. I would definitely recommend trying a heavier weight - maybe not for isolated shoulder movements, but for legs, chest, back, biceps, etc...

Re: How many pounds are your weights
So after a minute of the same excercise I get achey and fatigue even with 3 lbs, not bicep but any shoulder exercise (I had surgery in one shoulder and a shot in the other for bursitis, etc).
I do videos like J. Michael and they do not look like they are using more than 3 lbs either.

You should google low impact shoulder strengthening exercises and make a plan. Start at 3 pounds, give it a week or two if you need, then go to five. A few weeks, 10. etc.
I also have bad shoulders and started with 5's. Now I'm doing military presses with 15 pounds (4 sets of 12) and I'm not having issues like I thought I would be. In 3 weeks, I'm going to be moving up to 20.
It's important not to stay static in one weight for too long, or you're no longer really helping yourself. Some exercises are worse than others. But if you strengthen the muscles around your shoulder, you'll be better off.

How many pounds are your weights
Depends on the exercise. Shoulder raises 5 lbs, bicep curls and tricep pushbacks - 15 lbs, Shoulder press - 10 lbs. I would say you need between 5-20 pounds are needed.

I use the 2 and 10 lbs weights for the videos. All depends on the workout. I want to get 5 lbs but haven't had the time to go buy them.
