Re: What kind of rice do you cook?
Brown Basmati I gave up on my rice cooker with brown rice. I cook it on the stovetop according to the package directions. I usually add a tsp or 2 boullion (chicken or veg, depending) and I weight the lid of the pot for a tight seal.

Re: What kind of rice do you cook?
I've been on a plain old Uncle Ben's white rice kick. Cooked according to directions and add butter kosher salt and pepper. So yummy but I need to start doing some type of brown rice.

I make Near East original rice pilaf a lot. It's definitely the favorite in our house but it does have a lot of sodium. I like that it only takes about 25 minutes start to finish.
Other than that, I usually buy the carolina brand (brown, white, and jasmine). I just hate that brown rice takes forever to cook!

LOVE Uncle Ben's brown rice. I honestly just microwace it as per instructions and a tablespoon of butter. So good!

Long grain white rice in a rice cooker.
I think this. I buy a big bag of rice at Costco and use the rice cooker.

Re: What kind of rice do you cook?
Very rarely white rice. If I do, it is Carolina brand, stovetop according to directions.
I usually cook Near East Rice Pilaf, or Goya Yellow Rice.
I love brown rice and wild rice, but DH doesn't so I don't cook those.

What kind of rice do you cook?
Jasmine and I make it many different ways... boiled in a pot, I also do a risotto with it (even though I know you are supposed to use Arborio, but I can't always find Arborio when I'm craving risotto, and it only takes me like 20 minutes to make).

Re: What kind of rice do you cook?
ummm frozen brown or jasmine rice, from trader joes. 3-4 minutes in the microwave. I don't really ever make just plain rice the traditional way.

Me too!
I'm always tempted by that brand that comes in clear jars, and the rice varieties have interesting names like Texmati and Jasmati. But then I always go back to my boil-in-bag

You know those big jars of chopped garlic? Well I purée that jar in the Bullet, so it's more like a creamy garlicky paste/sauce. I keep that in the fridge and use it with cooking rice, even a garlic bread spread, etc.
But for the rice, I heat a pot, add a a few tsp of oil, then add about 2 TBSP of the garlic purée. Let it get golden, then add the rice & salt and water, 2:1 ratio, cover and turn ob low and let cook for maybe 20 mins til all water is absorbed. It really is the best white rice. Sometimes I'll throw frozen corn or some peas in at the end.
