I personally would fill at 1/4 but that is because I tend to forget. I had an apt where I would always say "ok Im going to call for a fill"....never would and we would lose heat on the coldest days

Whenever Slomins comes by. I guess it's a benefit of being on a budget - they just come and fill it up. The downfall is that they fill it up when we've only used 1/4 tank.

Same here. But I like the smaller bills (I'm not on a budget). I just had a fill at half a tank and the bill just makes me sick.

1/4 of a tank.

Don't wait until your tank gets too low. There is sludge at the bottom of the tank that you don't want kicked up.

Re: oil tank fill up

Fill it now, it is what the oil companies recommend--fill at 1/4.

My oil company recommends filling up when it gets to 1/4 tank.

Just keep in mind there can be sediment in the bottom of the tank (I did not know this until we ran out of oil) and every tank is different so 1/4 does not necessarily mean it is all oil.

This is true. I learned the hard way a few yrs ago DH had to blow the line thru; it was clogged with crap. My limit is 3/8. Thats when I order. Anything below that is really taking a chance with all the gunk sitting at the bottom of the tank.

I also dont fill my tank. Summer; usually July is the chespest out of the year.
