So confused....
I have battling with some major decisions and I figured why not post on here to get some opinions from people other than those that are close to me. So far I just went through one IUI so DH and I are pretty new to the whole IF treatment. My issue is that my current insurance only covers IUI's and not IVF. I have this fear that IUI won't work and then I'll be left with needing IVF and not have it covered so I went and applied to a hospital that offers amazing IF coverage and I actually was called for an interview. As I am super excited about this, I am also very torn because it's a huge decision. I've been at my current place of employment for 8 1/2 years and it's definitely my comfort zone so I know that fear of the unknown is mainly what is clouding my judgement. My DH isn't much of a help because he says that in the end the decision has to be up to me, both jobs are extremely secure but he just wants me to be comfortable and happy with wherever I work, and he doesn't want switching jobs to make me more stressed out which I completely understand. Basically do you ladies think that I am moving to quick or thinking irrationally here, am I just jumping to conclusions with thinking that I may someday need IVF. Or should I jump on the opportunity and make sure that i have the coverage just incase I ever do need it? I know that this is a personal decision and in the end it does have to be mine to make but I would just like some outside input. Slow down or move on and grab onto the opportunity???

Re: So confused....
There's no guarantee that the new job will offer insurance that covers IVF indefinitely. Places often change policies and what they cover to keep the cost from going up. So I wouldn't change jobs just on the hope that they'll have certain coverage that I may or may not need in the future. If it's otherwise a better opportunity or offers more opportunity for upward mobility, that's a different story. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I understand your concern because I have paid 6 iui's and 1 ivf out of pocket. You have more IUI's ahead of you however and you may not need to get to IVF.
I get the need for good insurance and considered something similar myself. At the end of the day you should only change job because you truly want that job, hospital, location, better money, etc. Benefits are important too but you are trying to make a decision for a what if instead of a "I need it now". If you have the option of reexploring an opening if/when you actually do need the benefits that might be a less stressful option.
New jobs are one of the top stressors in our lives. Your body doesn't need that right now when you are doing IUI. Just a thought - good luck.

Re: So confused....
I would never take a job based solely on potential insurance coverage - especially coverage that you might never need.
If you're happy at your job, then I wouldn't leave.
But also, this is just an interview. You haven't been offered the job yet. So it's probably worth exploring the other job - if only for the career advancement, if that's what it would be.

C - I wouldn't. That's too much planning for a possible path. It took me 4 iui's before I ever got a bfp. Your dx isn't indicating you need to go straight to Ivf. I know you're stressed and anxious bc you've had two no go cycles but stay positive :) trust Pena and that lab.

Re: So confused....
I just need to thank you ladies for your input!! It really means a lot. I have just been so beyond stressed and depressed over this whole IF journey that I feel like I'm scratching at anything at this point. It's made me impatient and I've really started thinking more on emotion and fear instead of realty. I've taken the past 2 days to really find myself again and think on a more rational level and I don't think it will be smart for me to make such a huge change in my life at this point. I don't need the additional stress.
Michelle- if you were in front of me right now I'd hug you. I know you know my whole story and your absolutely right, I need to just chill out and keep reminding myself of the facts instead of making my situation worse than what it is in my head. Thanks again for being there with your words of wisdom

hang in there. And you're right IF can cause us to do irrational things. But sometimes we do have to think with our heads and not our hearts!!!

Re: So confused....
If you don't mind me asking, what is your diagnosis? They may narrow down where your best bet lies as far as future procedures are concerned.
Also...just because i'm nosey....is the new hospital Stony Brook? I've heard great things about their IVF coverage!!!
I work at Southside now...IVF coverage is minimal.... I had been looking into SB earlier in the year for the same reasons as you but do not have a BSN Good Luck!
