Treadmill v Nike App distance and pace
I normally follow the nike app distance and pace when running on a treadmill. I used the treadmill to gauge distance and pace today and it was off by about a mile compared to the app. I gradually increase the speed but yet the treadmill was saying I was doing 11 minute miles. I got off exhausted and I know the pace isn’t right. Last time I ran outside I did 6 miles. My pace was far less than the treadmill pace today and I felt like I was running much faster today than I did for the 6 miles. The signal for the app is fine. I never have any problems at the gym with it. Can it be the treadmills are not calibrated at the gym correctly? But a mile off seems bad.

The belts absolutely can be off. I actually need to try out my new garmin & foot pod to see.

I did feel when I got on one treadmill where the belt was way off. There was a huge gap in between the belts so I moved to another machine.
I want to get a watch eventually. My concern is that I'm not covering the distance I need to be at for half marathon training. I need this snow to be gone already!! I ran the 6 miles outside but now with this pending storm I don't know if I can do the 7 mile run outside.

Uch, I know what you mean!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate the treadmill... Can't wait for sidewalks to be clear!
Also-- I never thought about treadmills being off on calculating distance before... how frustrating!

I usually run outdoors all year round but traveling for work so ran on a treadmill this morning. I never really do a slow run any slower than a 9:30 pace but today according to the treadmill, I was running an 11/mile. Totally off!

Apparently you're supposed to run faster on a treadmill. It's impossible based on what mine was telling me. I would have fallen off if I tried to get to my pace!
