IUIs and Producing "at home"
Has anyone had an IUI and had their DH produce at home? If we go the IUI route, it's a bit inconvenient for both of us to take time off from work.
I'm seeing Dr. Chung at Cornell and I'm not ready to start IUIs yet so I haven't asked him about it.
Has anyone done this? And how far in advance does DH have to produce and do you have to keep it at a certain temperature?

IUIs and Producing
For our IVF, DH did his thing at the office, but he had the option if doing it at home. We were told the ssmple would have to have been from no more than 30 mins before we arrived at the office.

IUIs and Producing
For my last iui, which resulted In a bfp dh did the sample at home and wrapped the container in foil and I put it in my pocket to keep it warm on the drive to my dr. I would say he probably produced the sample 45 minutes before I dropped it off. Dr said anything within the hour is fine.
I'm sure when you are ready to start your dr will give you full instructions.

IUIs and Producing
My DH has produced at home and in the office. When he does it at home, I drive it to the clinic keeping it close to my body so it remains warm. My clinic told me to get the sample there in about 30 minutes.

Re: IUIs and Producing "at home"
They say producing at home is absolutely fine unless there is severe male factor. I just kept it in my crotch the whole drive and they take it immediately for processing when you get . They prefer no older than 45 minutes.

Re: IUIs and Producing "at home"
I had this same issue, it's hard for my DH to come with me to my IUI because he leaves so early in the morning but when I did my IUI the doctor said that DH did not have to come, as long as I brought his specimen to the office within 1 hour it would be fine so thats exactly what I did. I just wrapped the cup in foil and kept it tucked under my shirt the whole way there. Don't stress it!! GL!

Re: IUIs and Producing "at home"
We did 6 IUIs....ALL of which DH produced at home. We only live about 8 minutes from our REs office. When we did IVF, we are about an hour away from the retrieval site, so DH had to produce onsite. While he HATED....he had his best #s there so I am convinced that even though we live right near the location, it is better to do it there...
