Re: Party Ideas
i have it at home, i'll give it to you tomorrow but off the top of my head
you need a jar of mild salsa,
a pound of cream cheese (one package)
A can of olives- the black ones
hormel chili beans
a package of mexican shredded cheese
that is 5 layers, i'm going to have to think of the other two.

Re: Party Ideas
I always make the spinach dip from the recipe on the back of the Knorrs Vegetable soup mix--but i double the amount of spinach and everyone thinks it is my own fancy recipe! ;)
Also, for a mexican dip..... -spread out a can of refried beans in the bottom of a pie plate -mix together 1 bar of softened cream cheese with a container (regular size) of sour cream and one of those little packets of taco seasoning. Layer that on top of the beans (make sure cream cheese is really soft or else it won't blend well) -next cover with salsa--i usually buy whatever brand/size is on sale and just eyeball the amount so that it covers the sour cream mixture -cover with shredded mexican cheese
you can garnish with olives, chopped tomato and chopped lettuce on top--i usually only do a little bit of sliced olvies
bake at 350 for about 10 minutes til cheese is melted.

Re: Party Ideas
i also have a good recipe for sweet and sour cocktail meatballs.
for the meatballs 1 lb chop meat 1 egg a dash of milk 1/2 cup breadcrumbs -mix all together to make meatballs. texture should be a little on the wet side, but if they are too wet you can add a little more breadcrumbs Shape into small, bite size meatballs.
for the sauce 1 can of beer 2 cups brown sugar 1 jar of chili sauce (heinz makes one and most stores have their own brand-it is right by the ketchup)
mix the 3 ingredients in a baking dish (9x13 is what i use) add the meatballs and turn a little to cover them. bake at 350 until bubbly which is about 45 min-1hr. then lower to 250 and bake for another 2 hrs. make sure to turn them so that the tops of the meatballs don't get dry--i usually turn the 2-3 times through the course of baking. they are so yummy and always a hit at parties!! i serve them in a pretty dish with toothpicks.
hmm...i have to think of what else i make for parties!

Re: Party Ideas
I have made this before from the McCormick website and it was good
1 1/2 teaspoons McCormick® Chili Powder 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Mustard 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Garlic Powder 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1 round sourdough bread (about 1 pound loaf) 1 tablespoon butter, softened 1 wheel (8 ounces) Brie cheese
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix spices and sugar; set aside. Place bread on baking sheet. Cut circle in top of bread and remove bread center to make room for the wheel of Brie. 2. Spread butter on bread; sprinkle with 2 teaspoons of the spice mixture. With knife, make 2-inch cuts at 1-inch intervals around edge of bread. Remove rind from Brie and place in bread. Sprinkle Brie with remaining spice mixture. Replace top of bread.
3. Bake 20 to 30 minutes. To serve, remove bread top and break into bite size pieces. Dip bread pieces in hot Brie.
