Nassau county correction officer
How would you feel about applying to this job? I saw they have the civil service test up and am really thinking about it. Do you think it is as grimy and gross as i am thinking it is? It pays well, good benefits, pension. Would you go for it?

I don't really follow NC politics that closely, but I know there was a very heated thread a couple weeks ago about county employees not getting their step raises that they thought they'd be entitled to before they applied for the job, because of the state of economic affairs currently.
Just some food for thought.

All civil service jobs are tough right now with the freeze. Yes, the pay is decent (assuming they keep giving you your raises), so is pension and benefits. Yes, it is grimy.
Take the test - it can't hurt. You can always make a final decision when you get called!

Re: Nassau county correction officer
I'm the one hat started the "heated thread" a few weeks ago about Nassau..... LOL
Right now they are in negotiations that are set to be decided on within the next few days.... Wiith that said there is no guarantee.. My FH is NCPD... Corrections Officers start in the 30's and again with renegotiations to current employee contracts and new hires will change step raises, pensions and benefits including taking alot loger to get to top pay and having to pay into your benefits. And there is also no guarantee that a freeze like this wouldn't happen again in the future .
I would take the the test , but think long and hard before making a decision .
