getting quotes for home renovations but not being ready for it
i woud like to get quotes on how much it would cost to finsih a basement, redo an existing bathroom and installing a bathroom but we are currently not ready to acutally make the changes cause we need to save for it the question is how much do we actually have to save.
I just feel bad calling compaines for quotes knowing we wont be able to get it done right away.
Do people do this all the time and i should not feel bad about it?

Yes, we did it... and then we knew who we wanted to go with once we were ready.

Don't feel bad. You need to have an idea how much it will cost. Just don't tell them that upfront.

I disagree with that
it takes contractors a decent amount of time to truly cost out a job to actually come out with a quote for you.
I'd try talking to 1 or two with ideas and more rough estimates/ballparking unless you're planning on doing some now and some later. there is no harm in some talking, but they normally can ballpark things decently enough to get an idea for you, rather than putting together a real go/no go proposal
I'll throw out a few numbers from my experience with getting work done.
redo existing normal bathroom 6-10K finish basement 15-30K adding a new bathroom depends on what you're doing, creating new space, in existing space, plumbing access etc could be 8-10K could be a lot more

so your saying i should just contact one or 2 people ... i wasnt really planning on calling too many people to begin with and yes we def will be doing things most likely one at a time. so i would want quotes on how much it would be to do each thing indviually.

You can absolutely get numbers but also know that those quotes have expiration dates. Cost of material and labor change so if you don't do the work for 6 months do not expect that same price.
