DD will be starting K in September. Does the school send out a sign-up sheet for Daisies/girl scouts or do I need to be aware of how to sign up?

If you live in Suffolk, you should go to the Suffolk County GS site and sign up. They will call you when a troop forms in your area. FYI, it's hard to get volunteers to run these groups, so you could be on a waitlist for a while unless you volunteer. Our particular service unit seems to be VERY unorganized with placing girls, so you need to follow up after registering on the site. If you are in Nassau, I would look on their site to see how it works.
