When do you say it's not going to happen

My history.. Between natural and IUI' I have been pregnant 3 times... Had m/c at 10, 15, and 8 weeks in that order... Been to RE.. Nothing comes up on on recurrent loss panel..we used to have great infertility coverage but as of January we have a health reimbursent plan where we have to pay a certain amount out of pocket before 80% coverage... I got tired of my RE and the fact they never got back to me after numerous phone calls on a test THEY wanted me to get done. My DH says every thing is up to me.. He is happy if I am and he doesn't want me to go through another loss... Sorry a vent.. I don't know to continue because I don't know if I can handle another loss.. Especially since I hear a heartbeat each time.. Tia

I would contact Dr.Braverman, SIRM or Dr. Kofinas. I had two chemicals before I saw Dr. B and K and wish I went sooner!

This is exactly what I was thinking. Meet with any of those Drs. I have done a year of IF treatments and had 2 chemicals. We are unexplained. My RLP came back fine. I went to SIRM and did the immune testing. I put up a post about it the last week but basically they found a partial dq alpha match. I will be on intralipids and Prednisone to deal with the partial dq alpha match with dh.

Your question about when do you say its not going to happen....IDK. This is hard to answer. Many days I don't think it will ever happen. I am holding onto some hope that MAYBE it will. Its all so unfair. If you would have asked me if I thought I would be this fair into IF treatments (IVF 3) I wouldn't have believed it.

I strongly suggest seeing a dr who deals with multiple losses and immune issues. GL and hang in there.

I agree.

You'll know when enough is enough. Even if you're hanging on by a thread, there's that ounce of hope, keep going.
The research and testing now has come so far, even within two years since my last cycle, I've tried new treatments

This is the reason why I left your RE.. I just felt he was not pushing me in any direction. Kinda left in limbo with no reasons we weren't getting pregnant except for my egg quality.
My new RE found deeper issues with my DH's sperm that our RE refused to look into. They also did immune testing that he refused to do on me.
Before throwing in the towel, I think you should consult elsewhere and get other opinions. Many RE's feel that early losses and multiple chemicals are due to egg quality but losses that far along can be due to an immune issue. Why don't you at least set up a consult with SIRM, RMA or Dr. B and have them at least do an immune panel on you. It may push you in the right direction.

EXACTLY why I left my RE (not sure if it's the one you see). I decided to go to Kofinas for some answers. He's out of network, so paying my deductible was expensive, but so worth it. He diagnosed me with a genetic thrombophilia (blood clotting disorder), put me on medication....and I am 4.5 weeks pregnant. I am still so scared about this pregnancy because I had so many losses and IVF failures...but I was starting to think I couldn't get pregnant. It's because of him that I am.

I'm very sorry for your losses. I know how tough it can be. I would suggest meeting with another RE. The girls gave you some great suggestions. Chat Icon

Re: When do you say it's not going to happen

I would seek out a second opinion - that's what we did and it was the best decision we ever made. We were actually at the point where IVF #3 was going to be our final try. If it didn't work out, then we would have been CF. The toll IF was taking our relationship was just too much to continue at that point.

Although DS is not here yet, we have talked about TTC #2 and honestly, neither of us are sure what we will do since we do not want to go through the strain again.

Just based on what you've said here, it doesn't sound like you should give up yet. I'd get a second opinion, for sure. I know you said traveling into the city is not convenient, but there's really no commitment to just go for a second opinion.

When do you say it's not going to happen

It took me 4 doctors to find the right one. It also took me 7 years, numerous IUIs and 5 IVFs and I paid out of pocket so I had a ton of added stress. I had unexplained IF and egg issues and then found out I had immune issues. The 4th dr I saw was my miracle worker. I saw him in May of 2010 and got pregnant the following May 2011. He was the perfect fit and I believed that it would happen because he never gave up on me. If you truly want it to happen it will no matter what or how or when.
