Cryosurgery?
Just wondering if anyone here has gone through cervical cryosurgery? Turns out my spotting issue, and possibly my fertility issue, is likely the result of a massively eroded cervix (yup, two and a half years of going to doctors, and not one of them noticed that) from using tampons. I'm having the procedure done next week, and there isn't much online in the way of personal experiences. I know it's a long shot, but I figured it can't hurt to ask!

Cryosurgery?
I've recently heard such horrible things about tampon use! I'm soooo so sorry you are going through this, it's insane.

Re: Cryosurgery?
I had cryosurgery done for abnormal cervical cells. It felt weird. I wouldn't say painful, more weird and uncomfortable. It was like putting an ice cube directly on the skin for a prolonged period of time. The worst part for me was the speculum being in there for a long time. I started to feel crampy.
BTW: I have never heard that tampon use can do that. I think that should be a warning on the box (not sure if it is already - I use both tampons & pads)

Completely agree!!! I've heard horrible stories about how tampon use (versus pads) can cause a back-up of clotting that remains in the uterus and can cause infections and implantation issues. I've been using tampons since I got my first AF when I was 10, so 20 years later I'm reading this. NOT happy about it.

Cryosurgery?
Thanks so much, Phyllis! That definitely makes me feel a little better.
I was completely shocked as well. When I met with the new gyn, he basically said that since the rests had pretty much ruled out anything hormonal, it was likely something physical. He then said "I'm going to ask a seemingly random question...do you use tampons?" and I said yes, of course. He just smiled and said "I have a feeling you're going to be very easy to fix!" Literally within SECONDS of looking up there, he said "oh yes, very easy to fix!" I can't believe within 2 years of pap smears, internal exams, etc... not a single dr noticed this! He said the erosion was very obvious, and even showed me a diagram of how severe it was.
Basically, the tampon is a foreign object and in some women, it irritates the "skin" around the cervix. The spotting was because having sex would irritate it, and the closer it got to my period, the more inflamed it became. He also said the erosion had basically shut my cervix so much, he's amazed any sperm ever got through. I'm also now banned from tampon use, and am looking into the diva cup.
