Bday party months after actual bday
DD wants desperately to have an outdoor pool party in the summer. Her bday is in April. Would it be weird to hold off and have her party in June/July? And would you bring your DC to a party at a public pool? We don't have a pool, and she wants her party at the public pool. I think it's a great idea, cause they'll have lifeguards on duty already. And there is a park with a covered picnic area adjacent to the pool (as well as in the pool area) where I can set up party stuff.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
I wouldn't go so far as July. Only wondering if it's still too cold early June to do it? I think it should be fine. The only question about public pools for me would be if I had to pay for myself to go in with DC who couldn't swim.

I wouldn't do it. How about an indoor pool party? My SS had one when he was younger, his bday is in October.

The pool doesn't open til first week of July.
I'd pay for whoever wanted to go, including adults if they were going to stay.
She really wants it outdoors. I suggested indoor pool and she said no.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
My DD's bday is April (tomorrow actually), and I would feel funny about having a party in July to be honest. If I did that, I personally wouldn't call it a birthday party. I would just have it as a Summer party I think. You also have to worry about it if it rains, so then you would have to re-schedule it to an even later date.

It's $400 for a 2 hour party there. I called recently. $500 for the 3 hour party ;)

I also know this may not be a favorable answer, but I don't believe in giving kids everything they ask for. That's kind of how your post reads to me. You offered your child an alternative and they said no. Who has the upper hand here? DS bday is in Dec right after the holidays so trust me, I understand. ETA: totally different though if you want to have some kids over for a get together in the summertime at this place.

I see no issue in having a party whenever you want. It's not like your having two. You could though do it now at an indoor pool. Alot of people do parties at the hotels by me and the kids love it.

Bday party months after actual bday
I would tell her indoor pool party for her birthday and if she wants to have a little get together with her closest friends and their moms at a pool during the summer that's fine. Imo you can't let your kids change their birthdays. I understand the desire to have a summer pool party, but considering that there are a ton of indoor pool party options, it's unreasonable to have her birthday in July.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
The truth is people do it all the time. My kids have been invited to many birthday pool partys after the fact. I say do it if that's what you want to do. In my experience no one will bat an eye.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
I personally would not wait that long between my DD's real birthdayand the party. I would do it at an indoor pool instead and explain that with an April bday that is the option. Then, as said above, maybe schedule a playdate type of day with a few friends at the town pool in the summer.

We are doing just that this year. We had a small family party and will do the pool party when it gets warm.

I feel the same way. I would do a small group of girls at the house on her b-day and then maybe an end of school party at a public pool.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
I would do what works for your family. My bat mitzvah was 2 months before my actual birthday because the temple did not do them during the summer and my mom did not want to make me study for it over summer break to have it in September. No one cared at all. I think if you explain it to your family now everyone will be totally cool with it. I just would not have 2 parties ie one now and one later. Maybe just a cake with one present from you on her actual birthday to acknowledge it. Happy birthday.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
My DD's birthday is in February and she's been asking for a summer pool party since she was 5 (she's 7). This year I've decided to have her party in June. I really don't care if it's months later. She'll have the outdoor party she's always wanted and it'll save me some money. She's been telling her friends since February that she's having a pool party in June. She's so excited. Do whatever works for you. I see nothing wrong with it.

Just have a pool party for her in the summer and don't call it a birthday party. Do something small for her real birthday and let her have her dream party in the summer

Bday party months after actual bday
When DS was in pre-school, one of the little boys did this. He had a January birthday and a "birthday" party in June. The only reason I had an issue with it is because the mom never said anything until she gave out invitations in June and it seemed like a gift grab to me. If your DD wants a summer pool party, I would send a save the date type thing around her real birthday with some cute wording so the parents know this is a planned event and you just want to give your DD the summer party she always wanted.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
My nephew's birthday is in January....and his birthday party is this weekend! My sister lives in New Hampshire and the rest of us are on Long Island, so she scheduled his party for a time when we wouldn't have to worry about weather being a factor.
I see nothing wrong with it. :)

Bday party months after actual bday
Two of my cousin's kids were born right around Christmas (the 24th & 28th of Dec). One year they did a mid-year (summer) birthday party so that it wouldn't be so overwhelming during the holidays and it was great. I would go for it if it works for you - I think most people would understand

Do it If this is what she really wants and will make her birthday fun for her go for it. She's only a kid once its not like she's asking you to take all her friends to Hawaii lol it's a party a couple of months after her birthday. She will be so excited so why not.

Re: Bday party months after actual bday
I am planning to have my daughters party in June and her birthday is in September. her birthday is the first week at the start of school so I'd rather her invite her friends from her class this year.
