Pay differences

I found out in around about way that a girl I work with it making $2 to $3 more an hour than I am. We both got hired at the same time & have same work experience. We both graduated at the same time as brand new X-ray Techs not to mention she is much younger than me. How do I go about approaching my managers about this or do I let it go? Jobs in this field are few and far between so do I suck it and try not to let it bother me?

Re: Pay differences

I have heard of stuff like this a lot. In my opinion, you never ever make it about what you "heard" about the other person. If you feel you deserve a raise, you need to prepare documentation for you supervisor and then present your case. (I.e. All YOUR tasks, your proposed tasks to take on, etc). If nothing can be done and you have resentment bubbling, I suggest at least applying elsewhere to see if something comes up. Of course nothing is a guarantee but at least you will be putting energy into potentially improving your situation. Also remember that just because we hear something, doesn't mean it's true or that we know all the circumstances.

Re: Pay differences

It is such a crappy position to be in. My sister recently found out after getting a promotion at work that the girl they hired to replace her, who she is training is making more than her with her promotion! She was so disappointed and hurt. She can't confront her supervisor with the info because she isn't supposed to know it. She just has to go to work at a job where she knows she is not valued as she should be Chat Icon

. This is often a problem if you have been at an agency for awhile. I know someone going through this where she is aware they have to pay higher to attract new employees. It sucks. And is often a reason to apply elsewhere if you are looking to get a raise. Not that jobs are always available either....
