Re: Endometriosis
Unfortunately the only way to really tell is by having surgery. Sometimes they can see some cysts through sonos. The painful, heavy periods and runs are signs. Is it painful when you have sex? I know for me that was a sign. What does your gyno say. Sometimes they can feel it through the physical exam.

I've never discussed with a doctor really. One at li Ivf wanted to do a lap surgery but I was already scheduled/enrolled in an Ivf trial and not about to jeopardize that for surgery especially since I know a way around endo is with Ivf.
I've always complained abt cramps and period pain and was prescribed a rx Aleve basically that did nothing. Sex doesn't hurt. I hate the idea of a surgery for what reason? Just to know with certainty? It's not like anything can be done about it and if I do have it and it gets worse then I would have to have the lap anyway right?

Re: Endometriosis
I had endo and did the hysteroscopy and lap surgery all at once, and my RE (LI IVF) removed it. I was told if they go in and find it he would remove it so I don't think u would need two surgeries? I had terrible, painful and very heavy periods which were my only symptoms. However, after removing the endo I still get heavy periods. I only had a mild case of endo, but I know some other ladies on here had worse cases which I'm sure they can offer some input. Good luck!

Endometriosis
I have it. Unfortunately many OB/Gyn's are clueless about endo. I was misdiagnosed for years with doctors telling me the pain was in my head. Eventually an endometrioma (endo caused ovarian cyst) burst and I convinced the dr to send me for an ultrasound which showed more endometriomas.
If you think you have endo, you need to be your own advocate. Find a doctor who specializes in endo. It can only be conclusively diagnosed and treated by surgery. The gold standard of treatment is excision, but many doctors still cauterized it. Left untreated, endo will continue to form scar tissue and adhesions and can become much more painful. Worse, it can rob you of your fertility as it has done to me.
Let me know if you have any specific questions.

In the two years it took me to get pregnant it never came up. I did EIGHT iuis with dr braverman. Another one with li Ivf before a dr there wanted to do a lap to check. But at this point I was scheduled for Ivf and didn't want to do a lap and then try on my own for 6 more months, I was done.

Endometriosis
Did you ask Dr Braverman if your symptoms were consistent with endo. My symptoms were painful periods, which were very heavy and long, and pain during sex. I had my first surgery in 2002 but they didn't get it all. I started seeing an RE thinking they'd be more knowledgeable about endo. That was wrong. I knew it was back but the dr insisted I was wrong. I went to a practice that only treats endo for another surgery in 2010 and it was Stage IV. I only regret trusting non specialists for so long!

I never asked dr b bc this was a few years ago and it was no where on my radar. All my tests were great and when doing iuis w him I kept thinking the next one would be it. When I told him I was doing Ivf (right when he stopped accepting insurance) he acted kind of like really? Maybe there is more we can do?
What endo dr do you see?

Re: Endometriosis
I went to the Center for endometriosis Care in Atlanta. They were amazing. Head and shoulders above the treatment I got in NY.

Re: Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a terrible disease. If you have it, you should get treatment asap for it. I had my first lap/hysteroscopy with D&C when I was 23 and by that point, it was already stage IV and did significant damage to my reproductive system. If I waited any longer, I would have lost my uterus. My symptoms were-- Pain with sex Pain with bowel movements Constant pain on my Rt side Fatigue Severe cramping to the point that I needed prescription pain killers as a teenager. Nausea, the runs, very sick during my period.
I still have some on my bowels hence pain with #2 during my period . Most women are born with it and it is considered a genetic inflammatory disease. My Grandma had it, suffered her entire life and died from stomach disease due to overuse of laxatives due to the endo on her bowels. Dr. B is very knowledgable about endo and does check for endo cysts on the ovaries in his initial exam. When I consulted with him, he immediately said I need another lap to rule out if the endo is back causing my infertility. Endo sucks. I feel robbed of so many things because of it. I am only 32 and am coming to terms with not having another child because of the damage. I am going for another lap asap. I am consulting with Dr. Seckin, Dr. Nezhat and Dr. Kligman. My first lap was from Dr. Kligman from Cornell and his surgical expertise is why I was able to have a healthy child in 2006. He is my life saver.

Endometriosis
Endo sucks! That with previous c-section has made it difficult to have another baby. Mine was discovered during a c-section. Ivf does work. I had a successful cycle that unfortunately just resulted in a m/c. Good luck
