Termite service contract?
Do you have one? Is it a "necessity" on LI? We don't have one right now, but I'm thinking we should get one. Or at least have someone come in and "spray" or whatever they do.

Re: Termite service contract?
Almost every house on Long Island has termites or will have termites. All if the termite inspectors and exterminators say that. It's inevitable.
And if you are thinking of selling, it's always a good thing to have. It makes the termite inspection, required by all banks, one less thing to worry about.
The annual service contract is usually not that expensive. Like 100-200 a year., if even. The initial treatment can cost more, especially if you install a baiting system (versus just a spray treatment).
But while I do think its a good idea to have as part of home maintenance, I will admit that I don't have a termite contract on my house, lol,

Previous owner did a one year Terminix contract, just received renewal notice and they want $350. Hearing it should be around 100-200 a year makes me think I should shop around....
Anyone know who should I call other than terminix? thanks so much!

Re: Termite service contract?
It may depend on what's included in the contract. How 'an visits per year, etc. But I think Terminex is one of the most expensive. A lot of my clients use smaller, local, mom and pop type companies.

Termite service contract?
Thanks for the info. We were in the same boat - our seller had a contract that we did not renew when it expired. Now I'm thinking maybe we should look into it

Re: Termite service contract?
Last yr, We had a swarm in our sunroom. No visible damage or nests. We did sentricon. It was like $1100 then $350 per yr to fill. They said we just need to fil 2 times and its basically covered. The issue is the contracts don't cover damage that may occur since they couldn't find and treat the nest.
For every 1 acre, there are about 9 colonies so its basically inevitable that they are on your properties.
