Achilles Tendonitis/Half Marathon
Has anyone had experience with a pretty painful achilles tendonitis. I first experienced it/saw the dr. 3 weeks ago. I've been doing agressive calf stretching, icing, resting, etc for 3 weeks and it just doesn't seem to be getting better. How long was your recovery time? When could you start running again?
I was supposed to do my first Half next month (the Brooklyn Half), but I have been riddled on and off with injuries (first my calf, now this) and now I am pretty sure it isn't going to happen, so I am pretty bummed, but trying to look forward just to when I can get get back outside.
Such a bummer to run all winter in 10 degree weather and be sidelined when it is so beautiful out!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Achilles Tendonitis/Half Marathon
My DH had an issue with his Achilles. It took forever to get better. He wore a Strassburg sock to bed for a long time and sometimes still does if it is bothering him.
He saw a physical therapist who specialized in running injuries. He stopped all running for 6-8 weeks and rode the bike instead. He was obviously in a lot of pain since my DH probably runs 65+ miles a week.
If you want specific information about what he did, let me know.
