RE & progesterone during 2ww Q
Hi ladies! Anyone have an idea whether or not an RE will do an unmedicated cycle except for progesterone supps during the 2ww? Figured i'd see if anyone on here has been through this. I am not TTC just yet, but, I have been temping/charting and know that I have a short LP (8 days), and wanted to see if I could just take supps during the 2ww to start with before jumping into clomid/trigger/IUI cycles with the RE. Apparently my OB does not prescribe progesterone until you get a BFP, and then they test levels (which doesn't make sense to me). TIA!

Yes, an RE would give you progesterone even if you're on an unmedicated cycle. BUT....
The RE will want to run tests to confirm that you really have an 8 day LP. And he will also want to know if you/your partner has any other issues. So it's not like you can just go and ask for progesterone. Figure at least 1 month of testing and monitoring at the beginning.
Also, if you really do have an LPD, then progesterone supplementation alone will probably not be enough. 8 days is generally too short of a LP to allow for implantation. The RE will try to lengthen your LP and that is usually done, at least initially, using meds, like Clomid.
But, you should probably wait until you are TTC because...well, because all of this will usually end in a pregnancy if everything goes right.

Not if you use contraception
ETA- I don't think it's necessarily bad to try to make positive changes to your cycle before TTC, it can save potential heartache down the line but definitely something to discuss with a doctor. If you suspect LPD i'd opt for the tests now rather than waiting until you really want a baby and then having to wait longer to do testing, etc.

Thank you both- I guess I will schedule my consult a few months earlier than I planned to.

Re: RE & progesterone during 2ww Q
You can def do progesterone without other meds. I have supplemented with progesterone in the 2ww without other meds, but my dr wanted to confirm with bloodwork that I O before letting me start the meds since we did not trigger.
