Special Ed to General Ed
How is the transition? I think DS will be ok. He's been in school his whole life and very sociable. Just worried how he'll be in a larger class. DS has been getting EI since a year and a half. At 3 he went to the local school's preschool POP program where he's in a small class of about 6 - 8 kids and 3 teachers. Special ed, speech and assistant. He also gets taken out of OT and PT. Loves it and has lots of friends. After testing to see where he'll be for Kindergarten he did well enough to be qualified for General Ed with having a Special Ed teacher in the class for him (and maybe 1 or 2 others) to sit with during language, reading and math). He does better in smaller groups to learn. I know they are awesome and still very open to change if needed. He will still be in IEP. HE will get OT and they're going to wait and see about PT. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar situation. THanks

Special Ed to General Ed
We are transitioning next year from Special Ed to Gen Ed but in 2nd grade. As long as your school is willing to give him supports (which it sounds like they are) then he should be fine. I think it's harder for the parents than the kids sometimes lol. The biggest adjustment for me I think will be the communication. I talk to DD's teacher every single day and I know that will never happen in a Gen Ed class.
