my pug keeps dragging his butt on the carpet and...
spinning around in circles on it and trying to itch himself - what could this be? anal gland issue? he seems so uncomfortable.

Butt dragging is usually an indication of full anal glands. Unless you express them yourself, I would take him to the vet.
Poor guy...my cat has this problem and I need to take her to the vet every so for it.

Yep - they said it above. Either anal - or dried poop.
I hate when they scoot because I know they are probably in pain - or at least irritated - but I have to say - it is one of the cutest things I ever did see.

Mine does this too-when he went to the vet he expressed his anal glands, that was about a month ago-BUT he is doing it again... How often do they need to get this done?

some breeds have issues with the glands not emptying out properly.....and sometimes it's an individual dog problem.
Some need it more often and others need it less....

I always think its the cutest thing too, DH yells at me for it 
Anyway, our groomer handles Peanuts anal glands when necessarry.

My husband actually does it to Otis we have since he was little and doesn't have a problem with it. We have to do it at least 1-2 a month. You can tell he feels better once it is done.

He is still doing it occasionally and I am going to take him to the vet early next week to express them. Does any one know how much they typically charge to do the expressing? I feel like everytime I go there its a 250
$ bill( money is not usually an issue but we are in a tight spot as of lately)

I just had my dog in for that they charges us I beleive 15.00 but they also put her on meds I think with everything visit and pills she also got a cortazone shot. $200.00 maybe a little less she also got her heart worm pills.
