Catterpillars eating my pine!
Ugh! I found these nasty caterpillar looking things on my pine bush and they're eating the pines and killing my bush. Ugh! Anyone deal with this? DH is at work and getting spray hoping to kill them without killing the plants, bushes and trees in the landscape. Gross!

small. they're in a bunch. maybe less than an inch to an inch long.

We had this on our pine too. Forget what they are called. All we did was hose it down with regular water, using the pressure to knock them off. Then when they are on the ground, you just pick them up. We used tongs to do this, lol. We had maybe 40 of them on one small bush of ours. Just monitored over a couple of days and they were gone. But man did they eat away my pine. A year later, those bare ends are growing back finally.

Do they have little red heads? We had them. They are so gross. They eat the branch as a group and move on. I cut off the branches they were on.

I think ours were redheaded pine sawfly larvae. They came back the following year too.

SawFLY larva, that's what we thought they were too after much googling. Ours did not have red heads though.
