Re: Anyone ever ate at Culinary Institute of America in the Hudson Valley?
I did for my birthday. We had a group of 10 and ate at American Bounty. The food was very good. I was surprised at how nervous the students were. I thought they'd be a lot more comfortable working there. We made it a long weekend and stayed in Rhinebeck. We had a car service so no one was drinking and driving that night. You can go on line and check out the different restaurants and their menus. You can even make reservations and see their availability online.

You do need reservations.
My cousin went to school there, and worked there. So my aunt and uncle have eaten there a few times. They've always been happy.
I've been dying to go. Have yet to though. I think it'll just be a fun experience overall. And it sounds delicious.

Thank you! That's what I am looking into: going for my birthday and staying overnight. I am checking out their menus.

Wow! So, where does your cousin work now? Is he/she still in that line of work?

Hah. No. He worked in a hotel for a year or so I think. He switched to finance and now makes millions and millions of dollars in the financial business!!!! I didn't understand it when I was little but after reading Kitchen Confidential and knowing the importance of money, I totally get it now

I've never been but I know a few great chefs who graduated from there. Let us know how it is if you go!

Re: Anyone ever ate at Culinary Institute of America in the Hudson Valley?
We just went there the end of May. We ate at American Bounty. It was great! Its nice since the servers are students it isn't stuffy at all. I had the House-Made Garlic Sausage and Sauerkraut as an appetizer it was delicious! My husband had the Roasted KNK Farm Chicken for dinner. He rarely orders chicken at a restaurant, but he said he was so glad he did, he said it was one of the best he's had. I had the Beef Short Ribs Braised in Port Wine...which were also great. Dessert was good too. It was a lot of fun. I'd definitely go back.

Yes, I'd make reservations. I believe my husband made them on OpenTable

DH's aunt goes pretty frequently. She taught there for years. It is my understanding that there are a few restaurants that you can choose from.

We ate at the Apple Pie Bakery and it's cafeteria style. But still super good. No reservations needed
