Prostate Cancer UPDATE
My dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 2 years ago. They treated it successfully and he was in remission. He gets checked every 6 months to make sure it hasn't come back. Early this month, his test scores came back high (not sure what the # is) but his oncologist had him retake the tests to make sure the lab didn't mess up. the results came back and there was no mistake. he is going to get a cat scan and bone density exam on the 17th. His dr says it would be unlikely (though not impossible) that the cancer came back in the same place since the radiation to that area lasts about 5 years and its been less than 2 years for him.
Has anyone had any experience with this? Has anyone heard of it spreading somewhere else? what happened? very frightened and afraid for him right now. we won't know any results until the 22nd.
Thanks
Update: so when he went to the urologist, he told him that he does not have prostate cancer. his bone density scan came back fine but the other test shows that his lymph nodes all along his abdomen are enlarged. He may also have some nodes enlarged in his neck as well. He has to see an oncologist on August 12th to find out what else this could be. We don't know if some cells broke loose and metastisized or if this is something knew... Does anyone have any experience with this? we are all a WRECK

Prostate Cancer UPDATE
I am so sorry this is happening to your family. I have been treated for breast cancer, and am always conscious of the fact that it can come back. My doctors check my lymph nodes at every visit as they can be an indicator. In the case of breast cancer, which has been studied extensively, when it spreads it usually shows up in lungs, bones, liver or brain. Prostate may have a well known pattern in which it spreads, also. With luck, it can be managed. Good luck to him, and to you.
