Curious about delivery...
Just curious how many of you were natural cb, vs. c section. If c section, did you opt for it ahead of time, or did the doc suggest it? I have 2 doctors and both have very different opinions on this subject.
Thanks in advance

I had a c-section, but that was my doctors choice and I was totally fine with that. However, i had identical twins that shared the same placenta and he said with those types of twins he prefers a c-section due to numerous complications that could have happened.

I went natural. Since both babies were head down, we were going to try for it. During labor I stopped dialating and the dr. said i would need a c section if i didnt dialate any more in 2 hours but he broke my water and stretched me out and i finally kept dialating and was able to go natural.

Re: Curious about delivery...
Well, I'd say I'm in the minority. Both babies were head down and I had wanted to try to go naturally. I dilated really quickly - 0-10cm in 1 1/2 hrs - so I wasn't able to get an epidural (I don't recommend going without it!). I had my first baby naturally and my second was ready but as he went into the birth canal, his cord fell below him, requiring an "urgent" c-section. Like Ali, my boys are identicals too, but all doctors have a different take on how to deliver twins. I don't regret making the decisions I did and funnily enough, I'm glad I experienced both ways of delivering! As long as you and your doctor are on the same wavelength, you'll feel comfortable and confident in the decisions made.

I had a setion. both babies were breach, and because I am an "older" mommy, my doctor said the chance of me delivering both naturally was slim. I didn't want to go through labor and need a section anyway.

Re: Curious about delivery...
I had a c-section- I gave birth at 29 weeks and Reese was in the canal but Sydney was still in the sack with the cord around her. So we opted c-section and i thought it was fine...hardly any pain afterwards..I was up walking around after a week. My scar is so little i had no stitches that had to be removed. My laber was very fast. I dilated to 10cm in 2 hours and they couldn't stop my labor. Recovery was a breeze too!

Re: Curious about delivery...
All of my Doctors were pro v birth for me, even when I found out one of my boys had a heart issue. I was induced since my other son was not gaiaing weight at they still wanted me to go vaginally. After 3 days of inducing me we had to have him out since he would do better outside versus inside that I needed the c-section.

Re: Curious about delivery...
Thanks everyone...I was a bit shocked when one doctor told me c section, because all along, I was told I was going to probably go natural. Both babies heads are down and 2 weeks ago weighed 4lbs 3oz and weiged 4lbs 10 oz so I thought everything was ok.
Thursday, they found protien in my urine, so now I have to go back today for more tests! They are starting weekly testing as of today and I guess I will know more when I get home.
I was not prepared to hear this news, and was quite upset. Hopefully, today's visit will be a more positive one!

Re: Curious about delivery...
I had a section also, but my babies were not in the right postition. I had one transverse and one breech. But, to be honest, I think my doctor wanted to do a section from the start.

Don't stress out yet! I had the very same situation... my blood pressure started to elevate and eventually I went to the hospital for monitoring. IT was there that they found protein in my urine. In twin pregnancies you're at a much higher risk for these symptoms. Ends up that I had mild preeclampsia and I just happened to be at the hospital when my water broke. It's better to be closely monitored (I used to go 3 times a week) then to not have any clue as to what is happening. You'll be just fine!

Thanks for the advice...actually there was no protein in my urnie and the fetal heart monitoring went well...8 out of 8 for both babies. I think that the other doctor was having a bad day last week. A lot of werid things took place at that visit. Today things went a lot smoother. I will be monitored every week now and after 2 more weeks, we will monitor 2 times a week...maybe more.
I will keep you posted. Thanks again!
