Crazy,weird,superstitious habits/things you do while dealing w/IF?
Chris had to get my car key out of my purse yesterday and as he was digging around he pulled out a small icon of the virgin Mary. He kind of looked at me and said nothing and just stuck it back in and didn't ask. YES. I have started carrying an icon with me since I started my first IVF cycle. Why not? I also recite the prayer to St. Gerard every night before I give myself my shots. Anyone else start anything new/different/superstitious while dealing with this crazy journey?

I had a moonstone butterfly stone I would hold. I have a fertility Buddha on my nightstand. Before dd when I was filling out a form and it asked if you were pregnant or not I would leave it blank. Didn't want to jinx myself. I'm sure there was more lol

Re: Crazy, weird, superstitious habits/things you do while dealing w/IF?
I am not at all religious. But back in February we were at a wedding for a friend in Newark. Well turns out the church we were at has an alter to St. Gerard and people struggling to conceive as well as people with difficult pregnancies make pilgrimages to that church.
Well since we were there, we figured it was a good idea. DH is very Catholic so I let him take the lead. About a week later my mom's close friend sent us a card with St. Gerard on it, that we put in my room.
Well it seemed to have worked.

Crazy,weird,superstitious habits/things you do while dealing w/IF?
I prayed to st Gerard and st Jude every day from the start of my cycle until I was 12+ weeks pregnant.
I visualized and talked to my future child. My dh's co-worker gave us a book that said to do this. It claimed then your child's spirit would know you were ready to welcome and love it. Sounds crazy but now I have my 4 month old ds so I would do it again.

Yea we got very superstitious! Not moving things around, carrying stuff on us, a special piece of jewelry, etc.

Extremely routine I would say....I chose not to say superstitious. I prayed to St. Anthony for our miracle three times every day. I pray twice a day now too. Infertility allowed me to find God.....

Not superstitious but I carry a very small plaque in my wallet of the Virgin Mother Mary holding Baby Jesus and have since I started my successful FET cycle.

I wear a metal of st gerard on the inside of my bra, that I got from a friend, this metal has been worn by a multitude of women who have strugged with fertility, we are not to give it back until we no longer need it. I wore it with my first, and wear it now again. Also, on the day of transfer...I don't take off my medica wrist band from the drs until I know either way if we are pregnant or not.

I carry around with me a little star ornament filled with baby dust given to me by one of the wonderful ladies on this forum, as well as a little bottle of baby dust that was sent to me by someone from the other forum I'm apart of. They're in my purse and I hold them during every IUI. I hope one day they actually bring me luck, so I can pass them along

Yes - I have St. Gerard medal that I wear and one by my bed (and I'm Jewish:)!). Also wear a dove pin. Weird ones - only wearing socks with a pattern. I did so with my son, so continued when we had secondary IF too. Now - I listened to a certain song when going to each dr. appt. for IVF - we are pregnant now with twins - so I keep listening to same song. Whatever it takes to keep our sanity, feel some sense of control, and keep the faith during the journey!

Re: Crazy, weird, superstitious habits/things you do while dealing w/IF?
I'm a superstitious person to begin with thanks to my italian family lol and Infertility has only exacerbated my superstitions. During all my IUI's I wear my St. Gerard rosary beads around my neck and tuck them in my shirt so people don't think I'm a freak lol. Also, during my treatments I hold my cousin and my grandfathers mass cards, actually last time I tucked them in my shirt during my IUI close to my heart. I just feel that they have seen my struggle and it brings me comfort to have them close by during my treatments. i'll continue to do the same when I start IVF this month. Lol hopefully they'll never need me to take off my shirt during my procedures...they'll find a lot of hidden things under there hahaha!

I have a fertility bracelet i got from Etsy with gemstones for fertility wellness. Thinking about getting a St. Gerard medal to add to it.

I wear my St. Gerard medal except pretty much day and night. If I'm not wearing it it's in my bag. My OCD is on high as well for random stuff as well, like wearing my sweatshirt I wore when I got good news at an appointment. I'm a nut lol!

I wore a St. Gerard medal on my necklace throughout IF, my pregnancy and delivery. I took it off after their birth. I'm pregnant again and until this baby is safely home, I'm keeping it on. I also have Padre Pio on my fridge.

I also visited the shrine on October for the mass for those wishing to be mothers and had a successful IUI the next month. I truely beleive in the power of St. Gerard.

LOL.
You want crazy? I got a fertility doll from a voodoo store in New Orleans. At a certain point, you get desperate.
It didn't help... but none of my friends want it!
