Suggestions for games

My DS is getting OT and PT and I'm trying to get some fun stuff to do at home too. I just ordered two Melissa and Doug puzzles that he has to "fish" for the pieces. And I order a Lauri starter kit that has some lacing cards, foam puzzles and some beading exercises.
Does anyone gave any other suggestions of games/activities he can do at home? Anything specifically that can help strengthen his core muscles?

Not sure how old your DS is, but my Ds's therapists have used a scooter board. He lies on it on his belly and uses his hands and arms to move across the floor.

They've also used stability balls and have had him sit/balance while doing activities or laid him on his belly over a smaller double ball (one of those hopping balls with a handle) and sort of hold him while he reaches down and does a puzzle or activity that's on the floor in front of him.

His therapist did exactly this the other day. He layed across the peanut and had to do a puzzle below.

One of DD's favorites which her PT recommended is to play on my bed with her. I throw her down and toss a pillow on her and just tickle her or whatever and she thinks it's hysterical. She has to really work to sit up on the soft surface and then I just push her down again and thankfully she loves it. I also tape paper on the fridge in a spot that she has to reach to color or do stickers. They said the reaching is good for strengthening her core. DD also loved using the scooters that PP mentioned!

Get a zoom ball, it works on core muscles. You can probably find a youtube video to demonstrate different exercises with it. My son's OT used that with him for a long time, and really built up his strength.

I saw that when I was initially doing my research and thought it looked cool. But a lot of the review said it was better for older kids and that younger kids couldn't open their arms wide enough to get it to work. How old was you DS when he used it? My DS is 4, but is more the size of a 3yr old and has very low muscle tone. The last thing I want to do is get him something that is going to frustrate him. I'm doing my best to keep all of these exercises fun for him.

Actually you are right, it probably wouldn't work for him. My son is much older
