Shoes for party...pratical/comfy or hot/make me feel good shoes?

I have my daughters sweet 16 in January,my wedding in May and having all shoe dilemmas.
Both Gowns are long so they really are not going to be seen. I bought 2 shoes on clearance yesterday and realized for both parties,they are more the hot/make me feel good shoes. They are 3" shoes on both pairs. am I nuts and should I get more a 1" heel? The 3" heels o course make me feel amazing but after 3 hours am I going to want to burn them?
Also If I decide to keep since I spent the money on them can the shoemaker cut an inch or so off the heels if I decide to use them or am I better off starting from scratch?

I am normally all for fashion over comfort and will wear shoes that KILL my feet but look hot.
However if you really can't seem them under the gowns, for for comfort.
Especially for your wedding- you will be on your feet so much.
As far as cutting the heel down, I wouldn't. I have heard it's hard to do because it throws the balance of the shoe off.
It would probably cost more than it's worth.
Can you return them?

No,I mean I am going to try but the store is closing,I thought I loved them,and they take no returns ,I shouldn't have got them without thinking about it. I would love them if they were 1-1.5 inches shorter. I guess I may have to take it as a loss.If you cant see my shoes anyhow, I really think I need then like you said go for comfort.

I never go for comfort - although I won't buy a shoe that immediately hurts my foot.

I'd wear the fab shoes and buy yourself a pair of satin isotoners to change into at the parties if your feet start to kill you -
