Is 6W5D too early for a 1st appt?

My husband is traveling for work in mid Oct. and I want to have my 1st appt. before he leaves. The only time that is avail. is Oct 6th when I will be only 6 w 5d. After that, they have an opening for Oct. 20th. I just feel like that's too far away considering how my last pregnancy ended with a D&C in May.
I'm not sure I can wait that long and I feel like the Dr. office may make me. Chat Icon

I think at 6.5-7W you should be able to see a heartbeat, so its really up to you. You could see it, and put your mind at ease, or you could not see it and get worried even though it likely is perfectly fine (just early!)

Not too early. With my first dd I had the dates off. When I went in I was 6w2d, they could see a heartbeat...

I would think that's one of the reasons they like to wait until 8 weeks. Even though it's pretty common to see a hb at that point, you may not or if you're not quite as far along as you think it would make you crazy. Even if you do see a hb, are they going to make you wait until 12 weeks for the next appointment? That wait would probably make me even more crazy. Personally I'd just wait until the later appointment since you'd only be 8+ weeks which is the normal time for a first appointment.

Not too early, I had my first appointment at 6.3 weeks and saw a strong heartbeat.

Not too early. My doc schedules the first appt at that time no matter what. I had both my first sonos that early and saw a heartbeat both times

I scheduled my first appt for when I would have been 7w. I guess I implanted late because I was a week behind. We saw the heartbeat but my dr couldn't get a measurement because the baby was too small. It was a little nerve wracking. He had me come back the following week and he got his measurement. Everything looked great and they adjusted my due date.

Thanks everyone. She was going to have me come in at the 9 week mark (because that's all they had open) but I told her I had a prior pregnancy that ended with D&C and she told me to come in earlier. So I'll have my first appt. at 6w5d. Thanks for all of your help and feedback. I appreciate it.
