Glucose screening test???
How bad is that liquid?
They said to drink half of it and I'll be doing it late, at like 7pm. Can this affect my results? Should I fast for a certain amount of hours?

I am not sure about taking it late but I personally didn't think the liquid was bad at all. I had the Orange and to me it taste like orange HI-C from when we were younger

It's just really, really sweet. It's not gross or anything. The hardest part is having to drink it quickly. I think you have 5 minutes. No fasting for the 1 hour test. Just eat as you normally would that day.
I never heard of only drinking half, though.

It tasted like orange aid. It was fine. The 3 hour drink is super sugary, double the size and you have to drink it in 5 minutes.

I went in there expecting the most disgusting thing in the world but it wasn't really terrible. Not something I'd drink by choice, but not horrendous.

Ask your Dr if they can chill it for you. Makes a huge difference if its cold vs warm

It's not bad at all. I had lemon lime my first pregnancy, tasted like super sweet, thicker, flat Mountain Dew. This time I had orange- like orange soda but thicker, flatter, sweeter again.

I think people completely overreact about it! To me it tasted like someone made Kool-Aid with an extra scoop of mix. Yes it sweet but I expected it to taste like gasoline.
Make sure they have it chilled, is much better that way!

Orange was so much better than lemon lime. Orange was kinda tasty. Lemon lime made me want to yack.

I guess i'm in the minority - i thought the orange was horrendous - vomit worthy. Then again.... i wound up having GD so maybe my body's reaction to it was skewed. I also don't drink anything sweet (juice, soda) so it may have shocked my system who knows. You'll be fine though... promise!

I didn't think drinking the drink was that terrible (I had orange) however, I did think the feeling you have AFTER the test was awful! I had such a headache and was nauseous for a few hours after I got home.

I thought it was fine. It was super cold which was the only thing that was tough for me but it just tasted like orange gatorade to me. I also never had any issues afterward at all. I remember the baby was crazy active that day though!

This was me too! I felt awful afterwards but the drink itself wasn't horrible.

So if my appt is 7:00pm, I should drink this an hour before and have them draw me at 7 right? I don't think they want me sitting around in the waiting room for nothing.
So one blood draw?
I am going to stop the sugary foods starting today and eat normal. I will probably have a salad at dinner and wait an hour or two before drinking the drink. Its 100ML bottle and the test requires 50ML so they want me to just drink half. They gave me the bottle already so I will refrigerate it! Thanks girls.

If you don't mind, please FM your OB's name. Would like to have a Dr that doesn't send me to Quest for this next time.
The 1 hour test is not fasting, but what you eat can affect the test. I would eat mainly protein at the prior meal and probably leave some time between the meal and the drink. Not sure how much time is appropriate.

I would limit sugars the day of the test and have more protein. I ate cereal the morning of and while I didn't fail, my numbers were higher than the doctor would have liked...

I took mine after work and failed! I did not eat any sugar during the day and I rarely eat sugar during this pregnancy bc I'm not into it. The drink wasn't so bad. I didn't feel great afterwards though. I was surprised I failed bc I haven't gained much weight and rarely eat sugar.
I passed the 3 hour and I fasted for it.
If I had to do it again I would do the 1 hour first thing in the morning and not eat.
The 3 hour sucked!
I hope you pass!!!

Don't change your diet to try to "trick" the test. If you have undiagnosed GD it's super dangerous for both you and the baby.
Don't go running out and eating a box of cookies but eat a typical day's food.

To me the drink wasn't that bad at all and I fel fine during and after the test.
I was worried because I tend to get a bit hypoglycemic when I don't eat, etc. but I felt fine.
